Westner, H.: New Generation of Candle Filters for Kieselguhr Filtration of Beer

Based on thorough analysis of the filter systems for kieselguhr filtration, a novel candle filter system Getro-Eco with major improvements has been developed.
Effective extension of filter cycles reduced the kieselguhr overall consumption owing to the new construction of the filter candle.
There are considerable savings of water for cleaning of candles and filter vessel due to a newly developed spray nozzle system and patented stainless steel trickle film device on top of the filter candles ensuring controlled water flow during washback.
Less efforts are required for installation, inspection, service and maintenance by the newly patented filter head (bayonet candle head). A new venting system located on the opposite side of the vessel provides optimum oxygen valves.
The new generation of candle filters represents a milestone in filtration technology with significant cost saving potential for breweries.
